Let me first say I love it. Very simple, yet very appealing. I believe the simplest paintings make the best art. The colors really do h...

Today starts my move to not giving my paintings a name. Why? Well, when I paint I don't have a desired goal in mind. I have an idea, but nothing concrete. So I can't create a painting with the goal of expressing "Warm Feelings" or something else goofy like that for a name. And when I'm finished with a piece I don't want to look at it and try to determine what does it look like or what does it inspire. I'll leave it up to the observer to make their own determination as to it's name or what it speaks to them. I just create the paintings with what I feel is right at the time and what speaks to me. No goal or feeling in mind to portray.

Artist's Statement:

As an abstract artist I am always amazed at what becomes a painting at the end of the creative process. I usually have no preconceived concepts as to what I want the next painting to be. I just start painting and eventually I know what to do and keep going until I feel in my gut that it's where it needs to be. I enjoy trying out new techniques and am always looking to experiment with new and unusual implements such as kitchen utensils when doing impasto work.

To me the excitement of abstract painting is knowing that I started with a blank canvas, then it usually get to a point where it's just bad and needs to be corrected. Then it gets to the point where it's magical and becomes something amazing to me. I do not paint to impress. I paint because I truly enjoy what I create and am really thrilled that I can make something wonderful in such a short amount of time and that the options are endless.

I'm a self-taught artist that started painting in Feb of 2012. I have enjoyed drawing in the past, but no painting to speak of. I am a former United States Marine of 16 years and am currently a Software Engineer by day and abstract painter by night.

Thanks for the nice comments. I love to hear praise for my art. I find it exciting to not use traditional painting techniques. I guess it pays not to be schooled in art.
